Huni Kuin Sacred Wisdom

People of the True Knowledge

The Huni Kuin Nation

The Huni Kuin — whose name means "True People" — are one of the largest and most spiritually rich indigenous nations of the Amazon, inhabiting the borderland forests of Brazil and Peru along the Juruá and Purus rivers. Also known as the Kaxinawá, they number over ten thousand people and maintain one of the most complete ceremonial, artistic, and healing lineages in the indigenous world.

At the heart of Huni Kuin culture lies the sacred art of song — the katxi — and the living geometric vision of kene. These are not ornaments or art forms in the Western sense; they are transmissions of cosmic intelligence, living maps of the invisible realms, woven into textiles, body painting, and baskets by the women, and sung by healers into the space of ceremony as direct medicine.

The Huni Kuin maintain a profound and intimate relationship with the plant world, viewing plants as sentient teachers and sacred allies in the work of healing body, mind, and spirit. Pacha Inti Foundation honors this tradition with deep reverence and reciprocal relationship, holding the Huni Kuin as living carriers of wisdom essential for our time.
